Hot in Cleveland (2010-present)- Three 40-something best friends from Los Angeles are flying to Paris when their plane makes an emergency landing in Cleveland. Realizing that all the norms from Los Angeles don’t apply anymore, they decide to celebrate a city that values real women and stay where they’re still considered hot.
How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014)- A father recounts to his children, through a series of flashbacks, the journey he and his four best friends took leading up to him meeting their mother.
Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993)- Three pets escape from a California ranch to find their owners in San Francisco.
Kate & Leopold (2001)- Kate and her actor brother live in N.Y. in the 21st Century. Her ex-boyfriend, Stuart falls back to the 19th Century and takes pictures of the place. Leopold who is puzzled by Stuart’s tiny camera, follows him back through the gap, and they both ended up in the present day. He gets help and insight from Charlie who thinks that Leopold is an actor who is always in character. Leopold tries his best to learn and even improve the modern conveniences that he encounters.
Kingdom of Heaven (2005)- Balian of Ibelin travels to Jerusalem during the crusades of the 12th century, and there he finds himself as the defender of the city and its people. (This is seriously one of my favorite movies of all time! If you are going to watch it be sure to watch the Director’s Cut, it’s way better than the theater version.)
Les Miserables (2012)- In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean, who for decades has been hunted by the ruthless policeman Javert after breaking parole, agrees to care for a factory worker’s daughter. The decision changes their lives forever.
Religulous (2008)- Bill Maher’s take on the current state of world religion.
Rent (2005)- This is the film version of the Pulitzer and Tony Award winning musical about Bohemians in the East Village of New York City struggling with life, love and AIDS, and the impacts they have on America.
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)- After the rebels have been brutally overpowered by the Empire on their newly established base, Luke Skywalker takes advanced Jedi training with Master Yoda, while his friends are pursued by Darth Vader as part of his plan to capture Luke.
The Wedding Date (2005)- Single-girl anxiety causes Kat Ellis (Messing) to hire a male escort (Mulroney) to pose as her boyfriend at her sister’s wedding. Her plan, an attempt to dupe her ex-fiancé, who dumped her a couple years prior, proves to be her undoing.
